Small Bathroom Remodel Reveal

This post has been a long time coming… our first bathroom remodel is complete! I want to give a huge thank you to Signature Hardware who sponsored this project and Nostalgic Warehouse for the gifted door knobs. These high quality, gorgeous products really revamped the space.

This project took nearly 6 months to complete because we decided to DIY a good portion of it during the holiday season and hire out subcontractors for others parts like the drywall, plumbing and tile install. If we went with a remodeling company, it probably would have been finished much sooner, but we would have paid a considerable amount more.

Our home is only 1,100 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for the 5 of us. Both of the bathrooms were stuck in the original era this home was built, the 1970s, so one of the first things we did was a full gut on the smaller bathroom. Goodbye drop down ceiling and tiled walls.

BEFORE: 1970s Boring, Outdated Bathroom

The dimensions are small at 5′ x 8′, so only the bare necessities fit: a shower, toilet & vanity. We kept the existing footprint, but demolished the room down to the studs – something we had never down before. The walls were a bear to remove since they were made out mesh metal lath and plaster, but the claustrophobia-inducing shower stall needed to go!

I often say that cabinet hardware is like jewelry to your outfit – it’s the perfect accessory to add a splash of personality. Well, the same goes for your door hardware. Once the bathroom interior makeover was finished, we had to swap out the old slab veneer door for a new square panel door and these gorgeous classic rosette knobs in antique brass from Nostalgic Warehouse.

Brass Door Knob

Nostalgic Warehouse offers a huge variety of knobs and handles for any home aesthetic. I chose these knobs because there are classic and versatile – a look that will stand the test of time and trends.

And that’s the small bathroom reno – 1 down, 3 more bathrooms to go. Wish us luck!
