Spring is officially here so it was the perfect time to refresh and transform my neglected side yard into a beautiful garden oasis thanks to help from The Home Depot (sponsored project).
This blog post is simply a source for all the links to products used in this project. There will be a separate blog post in more detail for how I created the artificial grass & paver walkway, as well as my top garden tips, but for now if you want to see more of the process, you can check out my Instagram stories “Side Yard” highlight and my Instagram reel recap.
For a quick reminder, here is what this space looked like before:
And here is what it looks like now! What do you think?
We live in an active waterfront community and we’re on one of the main streets where people pass by often, whether they’re going for a jog, a bike ride, fishing off the bridge, cruising the golf cart, etc. It made my heart happy to hear so many neighbors who watched the progression in real time comment on how beautiful it turned out.
Since we removed the chain link fence that was there before, I want to install a small privacy fence to block the garden from strong winds. There is also a small bathroom window that is visible from the street, even though it’s frosted, I want to add either a tropical shutter over it or perhaps an arbor for extra privacy. As for the retaining wall, that was a quick temporary fix, since we share the wall with our neighbors. We’ve discussed adding capstones on top to freshen it up or we’ll just add a fence along the front of it to cover it up since it’s in pretty rough shape.
